Natalie Field is a creative image-maker inspired by fashion and fantasy. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Field works as a conceptual portraiture and fashion photographer.
Her artworks feature mysterious characters in otherworldly settings, with a strong influence of the arts, historical themes and aspects of the natural world.
Field fell in love with photography during a 3 year backpacking trip around Europe, Northern Africa and South-East Asia, after which she returned to her home in Port Elizabeth to obtain a B.Tech Degree in Photography at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2008. It was during her last year of study that Field came across the cinematic tableau, a style that resonated with her. Specializing in the art of storytelling, Field uses her art to explore aspects of the human mind like consciousness, perception and memory; depicting characters in dreamlike states in images that are imbued with themes around evolution, metamorphosis, the transmigration of the soul and the possibility of parallel universes.
